“The Good Life” Bible Study

The Good Life – is a new Sunday Night Bible Study on Titus that begins next Sunday night (Feb. 12th). Everyone wants to live “the good life.” People search for it in money, pleasure, possessions, positions, fame, drugs, etc. However, the good life can only be achieved by committing one’s life to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Though Titus is one of the Pastoral Epistles, it contains principles we must follow to have a “journey into the good life.” This study closes with one lesson on the epistle of Philemon. This lesson is entitled “Principles for Handling Difficult Relationship Problems.”

“Jonah” Production

Jonah – begins March 10th at Sight and Sound Stage in Lancaster, PA. This production will move you from laughter to tears and have you on the edge of your seat from the time you step into the theatre. From the enormous whale swimming over your head to the thunderous effects of the powerful storm, and a mighty 30-foot-tall ship that breaks apart right before your eyes, the story of Jonah will astound and captivate the young and young-at-heart alike. – Sign up if you would like to go as a group. We have 25 adults and two children currently. The cost for the meal and ticket is $78.69 for adults and $36.87 for children. Our showing is June 1st at 7 o’clock. The Dinner is at 4 o’clock at Millers Smorgasbord. We have great seats in the rear of section 201. Pastor and Mrs. Bacino will be staying at the Best Western Hotel @ 717-768-3636. A list of other hotels is on the rear table. Please confirm your participation today. Payment should be made to the Dover First Baptist Church and placed in an envelope marked “Lancaster” or give your check to Jeanne Muncey. The deadline to opt out without charge is May ninth thereafter the church would be responsible.

HOLIDAY FOOD BASKETS – We are collecting foods to help needy families in this uncertain economy. You can place can and dry goods in the box in the foyer. These items will be given to help the poor and to make a few Christmas baskets for the church Community. Please bring items from list by December 18th. Thank you.

Our Church’s Anniversary

Our Church’s Anniversary – 254 YEARS OLD! – Our Church was organized under the leadership of Rev. William Marsh who was a Baptist minister from New Jersey and helped the community of believers organize on November 9, 1757 and to establish a covenant and appoint a pastor. The First Church of Christ in Beekman’s Precinct began and later the name was changed. On January 4, 1758 Pastor Samuel Waldo was chosen as the church elder. On May 25, 1758 he was ordained the minister. In September 1758 at a conference meeting, it was voted to build a place of worship. This original building was 30 feet by 40 feet long and was called the Red Meeting House for many years. This spot is primary vacant in the South Dover Cemetery next to Samuel Waldo’s Tomb.
