It is a church that is self-governing. Some people
think an "independent" church is a strange phenomenon. This is
possibly due to the many denominational groups of churches that exist. Yet,
independent churches have existed since apostolic times and were predominated in
that era. The independent church is governed by the people who support and give
to its ministry. It is their church directed by the Holy Spirit (Acts 13:1-2).
Such a church does not cave under the political and spiritual climate of any
higher organization. The people in-house know of whom that are not qualified to
be in spiritual leadership. They choose their own officers and Pastor.
It is a church that is Bible-centered. A
fundamental church is Bible-centered and bases all it’s teaching on the
scriptures. The word "fundamental" has at times been used to
denote a racial position. However, that is far from its true meaning. We believe
the "fundamental" (basic) truths are taught in the scripture.
For example, the Bible is the Word of God, Jesus Christ is the Son of God, He
was born of the "Virgin" Mary, and He died on the cross for our sins
and rose again from the dead. These are important truths in the Bible for all to
know and to become saved. A fundamental Church stands in agreement with the Holy
Scriptures. An Independent Fundamental Church bases its teachings and decisions
on the Bible. If that is racial, we make no apology!
If you would like more detailed information on this subject we
would be happy to forward a more detailed booklet. Just visit us at Dover First
Baptist Church or call the office at 832-3770.
We endeavor to be a Friendly
Church with the Bible message. That message includes these four spiritual
truths.
First- You need to be saved: "For all have sinned
and come short of the glory of God"(Romans3: 23)."…Except a man be
born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God"(John 3:3). Second- You
cannot save yourself: "not by works of righteousness which we have done,
but according to His mercy He saved us…" (Titus 3:5) Third- Jesus
Has provided for your salvation: "Who his own self bare our sins in his own
body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness:
by whose stripes ye were healed" (1Peter 2:24). Fourth- You must
accept Jesus for salvation…"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou
shalt be saved…"(Acts 16:31). "That if thou shalt confess with thy
mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him
from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto
righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto
salvation"(Romans10: 9,10).
Friend, if you are unsaved I trust you will receive Christ as
your Savior. …Now is the Time to Accept Jesus as Savior.
"(…Behold, now is the day of salvation.)" 11 Cor. 6:2
