Rise up American Christians

Passage: Jeremiah 7:5-10
Service Type:

It is with asperity this morning that I preach about the many liabilities that are ruining what could be called the Late Great United States. That title is from the book written in 2009 by prophecy expert Mark Hitchcock. In his book he details fascinating behind-the-headlines look at numerous current events and how they relate to what the Bible says about the last days.

We as Americans are accustomed to perceiving our country center stage as a world power, but Hitchcock carefully details that this may not be the case in the final event. Based on extensive research of the Bible and other sources Mark explores questions like these: •Will America survive?

•Does the Bible say anything about America in the last days?
•Will America be destroyed by a nuclear attack?
•Could America fall from within as a result of moral corruption?
•Is America still a “blessed” nation?
•How should individual Christians respond to a nation in chaos?

I suggest we need a rise up event like never before. A wake up, rise up call, the likes of a General MacArthur’s come back. Let me explain;

During the II World War General Douglas MacArthur was ordered by President Franklin Roosevelt to withdraw to Australia after being overrun by Japanese forces at Bataan. Before MacArthur escaped he made the famous comeback vow, “I shall return.” On Oct. 20, 1944, MacArthur did indeed return to the Philippines. He uttered some very dramatic words to Filipinos just moments after he waded ashore at Red Beach. With his feet finally back on Filipinos soil, and his promise at last being fulfilled, MacArthur spoke with great emotion. The following is a portion from that speech.

“People of the Philippines, I have returned. By the grace of Almighty God our forces stand again on Philippine soil — soil consecrated in the blood of our two peoples. We have come, dedicated and committed, to the task of destroying every vestige of enemy control over your daily lives, and of restoring, upon a foundation of indestructible, strength, the liberties of your people. The hour of your redemption is here…

Let the indomitable spirit of Bataan and Corregidor lead on. As the lines of battle roll forward to bring you within the zone of operations, rise and strike. Strike at every favorable opportunity! For your homes and hearths, strike! For future generations of your sons and daughters, strike! In the name of your sacred dead, strike! Let no heart be faint. Let every arm be steeled. The guidance of our divine God points the way. Follow in His Name to the Holy Grail of righteous victory!”
May I suggest that America Christians must follow in His Name to the Holy Grail of righteous victory!”

It’s time we get behind Our Commander in Chief Jesus Christ and rise up and strike. It is time for the Church to strike at every favorable opportunity. For our homes, for our Fa, for our Faith, for our Churches, for our country we need to strike! For the future generations of our sons and daughters we need to strike! In the name of the sacred dead who die for their faith. The Church needs to wake up out of its sleep and slumber and strike.

When I say strike, I am not talking about engaging in violence or revenge and returning evil for evil. The church needs to turn from its apathy and strike with all its spiritual powers. The church needs to move from its complacency and strike and pray the guidance of our divine God to point the way.

We cannot sit idly by and observe the slaughter of Christians and the abrogation of our faith. We are indoctrinated to be political correct, to be tolerant, to be woke. Yet, the name of Jesus is condemned every day and we are more afraid of men than of God. We need to return to the basic of our faith.

I. The Basic – Jeramiah 17:5 -7.
1. The obstacles before us are our lack of faith and trust in God so we have conceded to fear and complacency. The Israelites of Jeremiah’s day believed they could trust in their army, the diplomacy of their king, and their foreign alliances to protect them from the powerful Babylonian empire. American are trusting the same; folks it as the old idiom says, “its a house of cards”, a phony security. God spoke through Jeremiah to warn them that He would not bless those who trusted in anyone or anything instead of Him.

In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me. In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me. – Ps. 56:4, 11

II. The Charge – 2 Chronicles 7:14
1. The Church needs to apply these fundamental truths for its hour of redemption against the forces of evil that prevail today. Folks, we are fighting a spiritual battle an invisible war and we have our government redefining what God created. The God-ordained institution held in sacred honor since creation have been diminished and relegated to the whim of man. All of that is a reversal of God design for humanity. This is dangerous ground—fallen and sinful mankind is attempting to dictate its own standards to a Holy God.
We must confess our sin before Him and repent. —

2 Chronicles 7:14 reminds us, If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

3. The Devil hates God and since we are children of God, he hates us. Jesus says he comes only to steal, kill and to destroy. Again the Bible describes the Devil as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. “There is no truce in this invisible war. Demonic activity is both real and relentless.

Let it be known that these forces are not to be considered as mere figments of the imagination but rather a satanic underpinning of the foundations of which this great nation was built upon. This is not the mere devices and hostility of men but of evil unseen. This evil is as real as the pew you sit in.

Paul warned the church in Ephesians that we battle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Our society has been fractured on so many fronts that observers question how long it will take (if ever) to restore what we knew as normal. Sadly, many of the evils that used to be anathema are being woven into today’s culture as acceptable and praiseworthy. Even Christians participate in these trappings of the world. — Jerimiah 7:8, 9

III. The Future without God

1. The future is not to repeat the mistakes of the past: It is said that those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it. The vast majority of the Founders and Framers of early America were unquestionably aligned with the Judeo/Christian ethnic. They went on record stating quite forcibly that America’s political prosperity, popular government, and even human happiness are dependent on this moral foundation. After serving two terms as president of the United States, George Washington articulated in his farewell address to the nation the essential of morality to national survival.
I quote just a few statements: “

Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens?

He went on to say that, “national morality cannot prevail in exclusion of religious principles. It is substantially true that virtue or morality is a necessary spring of popular government.

2. A divides failing nation. The political landscape in the United States is more polarized than ever, with divisions running deep not just between the parties but families and churches. The Bible warns of such strife. Furthermore, Jesus spoke wisely about division in Luke 11:17. Satan knows the Word and is using it against us. The Bible speaks of leaders who rule unjustly, as seen in Isaiah 10:1-2 (KJV):

3. A regrettable paralysis of government. This state of affairs has led to crime in our cities, open borders that has spawn drug deaths at the tune of 200 per day or more. The failure to attend to these urgent matters demands our collective attention in prayers and spiritual resources.

John F. Kennedy issued a challenge to Americans when I was but 10 years old. “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.” It was a call for citizens to surrender their lives in sacrifice and service to others. Paul urges us to give our bodies as “living sacrifices” in service to others. It must be an investment of our lives in the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of others.

4. Anti-Semitism and hatred of Christianity. In today’s catastrophic, moral freefall, these are two serious issues believers must address. For more than 2,000 years, Christ’s enemies have tried to rid the world of His people. The Caesars tried it, throwing believers to the lions on the floors of their great coliseums.
Second, ever since Abraham our Jewish friends have endured not only persecution but almost extermination. For Jewish people, tragically, history is repeating itself. Anti-Semitism has tracked God’s Chosen People across the centuries and now poisons the fabric of America. God has so bless this nation and one reason for these great blessing upon our land is that America was a true friend and ally to God’s anointed people the Jews. However, we are failing and turn against His chosen ones.

Conclusion:

Is there any hope for America?” Well the hope for America would be the same as the hope for any people. First of our power to overcome is in a return to God and worship of Him as creator and true law-giver. Unlike any other nation, America has a sufficiently large enough segment of followers of Christ to greatly influence and impact the lifestyle of the total culture. That is our hope… the task of destroying every vestige of enemy control over our daily lives, and of restoring, upon a foundation of indestructible, strength, the liberties of Gods’ people.

Things will get bad for Israel, they will flee during the last half of the Tribulation because the persecution of the Jews will be at an all-time high, but God will be faithful to the His people and will provide for them as recorded in Isaiah 33:15-16. Also, in Rev. 12:14 “the woman” (Israel) is delivered by two wings of a great eagle. The great eagle alludes to world powers; in Ezekiel 17 it is that of Babylon and Egypt and in early Church history it was Rome’s insignia. This is a picture of the delivering arms of God.

They “were given” by God’s at a determinate appointment in time. Just maybe these two wings of a great eagle are representative of our nation somewhat revive and bend to aid Israel.

The bald eagle was chosen June 20, 1782 as the emblem of the United States of America, because of its long life, great strength and majestic looks. Other nations have eagle emblems but what nation in these last days is considered the great eagle…? The two wings of the great eagle may indicate America. The United States Air Force is the largest air force in the world with roughly 5,300 aircraft and the United States Navy is the second largest air force in the world with 3,700 aircraft, Let us hope and pray it is.
